THE ROLE

The Pastoral Care Intern will work closely with the Lead Pastor at GCC as they learn important tools for equipping and leading the church.  The role includes a variety of opportunities including: teaching and preaching, pastoral care visits and meetings with those in need of spiritual guidance, learning and discussing vision and mission of the broader church, attending monthly elders meeting, and more.  You will develop skills from administration, casting vision, practices for crafting engaging and meaningful sermons, church doctrine and how to facilitate and lead small groups (to name a few).

  • You don’t take yourself too seriously. No egos here! You find your identity in Jesus and are not insecure or easily offended.
  • Your punctuality is a promise. You always show up on time and treat others’ schedules with honor.
  • A desire and love to build relationships with all types of people.
  • Emotional maturity.  You don't get rattled easily.

 

YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT DOES IT LOOKS LIKE TO WIN IN THIS POSITION?

  • Partner with the Lead and Worship Pastor in planning and executing weekly worship services.
  • Weekly connections with people with mutigenerational groups. 
  • Utilize your voice and leadership to partner with people and assist with the needs of the saints.
  • Preach and teach God's word.
  • Plan and execute, along with the Lead Pastor, a preaching calendar.
  • Study and grow in your knowledge and understanding of God's word through developing new study skills and habits.

 

THE FINE PRINT

DON'T SKIP THIS PART...

Hours: The Pastoral Care Intern will work 8AM to 12:00PM on Sunday mornings, and an additional 4-6 hours during the week.

Oversight: The Pastoral Care Intern will report to the Lead Pastor, Bruce Jones.

Compensation: $800 monthly for 11 months (see Program Overview for details).

Length of Internship: September 2025 - July 2026.

‍Additional Expectations: The Pastoral Care Intern is expected to work an average of 12 hours per week. Some weeks will be a bit more; some weeks will be a bit less.
